Port Moresby: A mini launching of caritas PNG's '21 days of Activism' campaign was held at the Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (CBC PNGSI) on Monday 20th November 2023.
The three-week-long awareness campaign begins on Monday 20th November, which also coincides with World Children’s Day, and ends on Sunday December 10th. To officially begin the campaign, Caritas PNG Projects Officer Ms. Catherine Sariman briefly explained the importance of the campaign and the different days of global observances to CBC staff who wore orange shirts throughout the day to show their support and solidarity with the different organizations also taking part.
The 21 Days of Activism is an international campaign held annually to raise awareness on issues of human rights. Global observances falling in the period of the campaign include World Children’s Day (November 20th); International Day of the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25th); World AIDS Day (December 1st); International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3rd) and Human Rights Day (December 10th).
Throughout the duration of the campaign, Caritas PNG will be posting daily on Facebook and on its website about the various observances to shed light on the issues and what is being done locally. A special Mass to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities will be held on Sunday December 3rd at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, DBTI.
